This is an excellent offering from a talented singer who infuses each song with genuine emotion.

For the unreconstructed among us, Sparky Rucker sings a slow and reverent rendition of "Dixie" that will bring a tear to the eye. "The Bonnie Blue Flag" lilts and jaunts along like its original Irish tune, flushing you with joyful emotion. "Lorena" brings to mind the flickering shadows and cracklng wood of camp the night before the battle.

Seemingly incongruous, "Oh, I'm a Good Old Rebel" as sung by Sparky is not a plodding funeral dirge . . . it comes out as an arrogant, spit-in-your-eye song of eternal defiance. Different from anything you have ever heard, it just sounds "right." Our "Forgotten In Gray" page music file is based on Sparky's rendition.

The other songs in the album (even the songs from the "other side") are a sheer joy to hear. This is a wise choice for any student of the War.

Email Sparky and let him know you want this fine offering on CD.
